Would? - To put it simple Would? is haunting, beautiful, brilliant, awesome, and great all at the same time. The dual combination of Layne and Jerry's guitar playing as well as their voices makes this song work. Surprisingly Layne wrote this song all by himself. 9/10Īngry Chair - This is a pretty weird song but is rather good and unique. It doesn't hurt that the chorus on this song is pretty amazing. Everything seems to be good here from the guitar to the drumming and of course the harmonizing between Layne and Jerry. Hate to Feel is an awesome song to just listen to chilling out on a slow day. Hate to Feel - Now that the break is over we can get back to the real songs. This is not even an actual song so there is no reason to rate it. Jerry loved to play this little number during breaks in recording to annoy the rest of the band. Intro (Dream Sequence) - Commonly known as Iron Gland or Intro/Dream Sequence is the little joke of the album. Hell Godsmack pretty much ripped off the Alice in Chains sun logo.

Funny some people actually think Alice in Chains ripped off the band Godsmack, however Godsmack originally started out as an Alice in Chains cover band. What really steals the show on this song though is Layne's singing here. Layne and Jerry once, once, and once again mix in their voices beautifully along with the guitar. God Smack - Such an awesome song right here. Dirt has to be my least favorite song on the album besides Iron Gland, but Iron Gland was meant to be a joke anyway. 7.5/10ĭirt - The title track is here and now playing. Layne's voice probably sounds the best on this track, but I am not really to crazy about the lyrics here. Junkhead - So here we are the second half of the album yay I guess. To those who are confused about the song's meaning it is a bit of a tribute to Jerry Cantrell's dad when he served in Vietnam. Rooster is for sure a Top 10 Alice in Chains song for me. Once again Lanye and Jerry harmonize fitting in rather well with Jerry's guitar playing. Rooster - Like Down in a Hole, Roster is a slower song and has a little dragged out intro. Once again we hear Lanye and Jerry harmonizing their voices going up slowly in different notes. Man! The intro starts off with some drumming leading to some aggressive guitar work by Jerry Cantrell. Sickman - Dirt is still staying good and this song is Sick. Down in a Hole is a very good song and is for sure a top 5 candidate in the saddest songs of all time. Down in a Hole is the slower song on the album that starts out soothing and ends beautifully. 10/10ĭown in a Hole - This is one of my favorite songs period.

This song has a lot of energy put into it just check it out for yourself. Rain When I Die - This song has a slow dragged out intro but it is worth the wait to hear this awesome song. Layne's voice sounds really good on this song during the chorus when he says "And maybe I don't give a damn anyway". 10/10ĭamn That River - Damn That River opens up with a kick ass guitar riff and once again the harmonies between Layne and Jerry are magnificent, they both seem to be singing in different octaves. Them Bones has to be my favorite song under 3 minutes. Them Bones is one of my favorite Alice in Chains songs because of the harmonies between Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell. Them Bones - Heavy song that doesn't really have an intro it gets right to it. Dirt is the second studio album by the Grunge band Alice in Chains and was released on September 29, 1992.
